Hemp hearts are simply shelled hemp seeds. They are the soft interior of the seed that have a slightly nutty taste. You might think of it as a taste similar to pine nuts, sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds.
Hemp hearts are highly nutritious and with 10 grams of protein per 30-gram serving, they contain twice the amount of protein compared to flax or chia, and they’re lower in carbohydrates. In addition to being high in protein they contain all eight essential amino acids, classifying them as a complete protein. Hemp Hearts also contains a nice amount of Omega-3 fatty acids. Plus, they just plain taste good, so that’s always a good reason to eat them.
Also, Hemp Hearts have a broader spectrum of omegas including the rare GLA. They are very tasty, you can sprinkle them on your favorite dishes or eat them straight from the bag!
